Guest Bartenders Rich & Brandon, Bad Hunter
December 20, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - December 21, 2018 @ 2:00 am
Join us on Thursday, December 20th as we welcome Rich Beltzer and Brandon Thrash, bartenders at Bad Hunter in Chicago, for a guest shift behind the stick!
Bad Hunter is a veg-centric restaurant and bar in West Loop that takes pride in their ‘sessionable’ approach to food and drink. Recently BH experienced a fire that knocked it out of commission until after the first of the year so Rich and Brandon are taking this opportunity to travel and share their passion for cocktails while exploring great bars around the area. They’ll be featuring a special menu for the night that showcases what they do best so please come out and support these fine fellows and see what they’ve cooked up.
Rich grew up in Anchorage, AK and moved to Chicago about 2 and half years ago. He moved to seek growth in the hospitality industry and to find a little more about himself. His career in Chicago started at Bad Hunter; where, alongside others moved up as the Head bartender. He is a classically trained violinist, also working part time as a brand ambassador for Santa Teresa Rum. He shoots photos as a side hobby for bars/brands/restaurants, but his true passion is mentorship and apprenticeship in the hospitality industry. He believes that people need mentors to succeed in any industry. He is a participant in a number of national cocktail conferences in a leadership role; including, San Antonio cocktail conference (SACC), the Cocktail Apprentice Program for Tales of the Cocktail (CAP), and leadership team for Paris of the Plains in Kansas City (Popfest). Taking on a leadership role in these cocktail conferences is a stepping stone toward what he wants to do in his future: educate, mentor, and teach the next generation of hospitality professionals.
Brandon grew up in Arkansas, and although he’s lived all over the world, still considers Northwest Arkansas home. He began working at Bad Hunter in March after stints behind the bar in Philadelphia and San Francisco over the last few years. He recently spent 2 months in Oregon making wine with Ross and Bee Maloof Wines, as well as making cider with Art + Science Cider and Wine. In Oregon, he was able to learn more about his true passion, fruit fermentation and distillation. He is a self-proclaimed small town outdoorsman that can’t escape the big city. He only feels at home when he’s hiking in the mountains, canoeing a river, or dancing behind a bar with his Bad Hunter family.
